What does the Area Calculator do?
It converts an area into 10 metric and imperial units at the same time: mm², cm², m², km², hectares, square inches, square feet, square yards, acres and square miles. You can start from any unit, so it works equally for "how many square feet is 50 m²?" and "how many hectares is 120 acres?". Everything is calculated locally in the browser.
How to use
- Enter a number in the row of the unit you have, e.g. 50 in Square Meter. The other rows update at once (≈ 538.196 ft², 0.005 ha, ...).
- Set rounding digits to choose how many decimal places are displayed.
- Turn on Ratio to see "1 unit = x base unit" next to each row, Separators for thousands separators, and Description for each unit's definition.
- Drag a row by its handle to change the order. The top row becomes the (base unit) for the ratios.
- Press Up / Down in a row to step the value by 1 of that unit.

FAQ
Can I calculate an area from length and width?
No. This tool converts an area you already know between units. Multiply length by width first (for example in meters to get m²), then enter the result.
Are Japanese units such as tsubo (坪) or jo (畳) supported?
Not at the moment. Only the metric and imperial units listed above are available.
Is the acre the US survey acre?
The acre is based on the international foot: 4,046.8564224 m². The US survey acre differs by only about 0.0004%.
