Tune any instrument with your microphone. Shows the nearest note, how many cents sharp or flat you are, and the frequency in Hz. Presets for guitar (standard, Drop D, DADGAD, half step down), bass, ukulele, violin, viola and cello, a reference pitch from A4 = 415 to 466 Hz, and reference tones you can play.
It listens to your microphone, finds the pitch of the note you play or sing, and shows how far it is from the nearest note in cents (1/100 of a semitone). When the needle is in the middle and turns green, you are in tune.

No. The sound is analyzed in your browser and is not recorded, saved or uploaded. Only your settings (instrument, reference pitch and note names) are saved in this browser.
It uses the YIN algorithm, which looks for the period at which the sound repeats itself. It ignores quiet sounds and noise, and smooths the result over the last few readings so the needle does not jump between octaves.
Play one string at a time, mute the others, and move closer to the microphone. Low bass notes need a moment to settle; let the string ring.
