Markdown to PDF

Turn Markdown or plain text into a PDF with your browser's print dialog. Preview it on paper and set the paper size, orientation, margin and font. Text in the PDF stays selectable and searchable, and Japanese, Chinese and Korean are printed with your device's fonts. Nothing is uploaded.

About this tool

What is Markdown to PDF?

Markdown to PDF lays out Markdown or plain text for paper and saves it as a PDF through your browser's print dialog. Because the browser prints real text with the fonts on your device, Japanese, Chinese, Korean and other scripts come out correctly, and the text in the PDF can be selected, copied and searched.

How to use

  1. Choose Markdown or Plain text.
  2. Type or paste into the editor, or load a file with Open file or by dropping a .md / .txt file onto the editor. The mode switches automatically based on the file extension.
  3. Set the Paper, Orientation, Margin (mm), Font size (pt) and Font, and check the preview.
  4. Click Print / Save as PDF, then choose Save as PDF (or Microsoft Print to PDF) as the destination in the print dialog.

Layout tips

  • Turn off Headers and footers in the print dialog to hide the date, URL and page numbers added by the browser.
  • Long lines in code blocks and plain text wrap so they do not run off the page.
  • Table rows and images are not split across pages, and headings are kept with the text that follows them.

FAQ

Is my text uploaded?

No. The text is rendered and printed in your browser. If your Markdown contains images, they are loaded from their URLs, which contacts those servers.

Why does it use the print dialog instead of downloading a PDF directly?

Printing to PDF keeps the text as real, searchable text and uses the fonts installed on your device, so any language is displayed correctly without embedding large font files.

Can I include images from my computer?

No. Images are loaded from URLs, so local file paths such as ./image.png cannot be displayed.
