About this tool

What is the Whiteboard?

The Whiteboard is a canvas for quick diagrams, wireframes, mind maps and handwritten-style notes. It embeds Excalidraw, an open-source drawing editor known for its hand-drawn look, and adds automatic saving so your board survives page reloads. The colors follow ToolPocket's light or dark theme.

How to use

  1. Pick a tool from the toolbar: selection, rectangle, diamond, ellipse, arrow, line, freehand draw, text, image or eraser.
  2. Click and drag on the canvas to draw. Double-click a shape to add text inside it.
  3. Select elements to move, resize or restyle them (stroke, fill, line style, font) from the properties panel.
  4. Scroll or use the zoom controls to navigate; hold Space and drag, or use the hand tool, to pan.
  5. Use the menu to save the board to a file, open a saved file, export an image or reset the canvas.

Your work is saved automatically about half a second after each change.

FAQ

Where is my drawing stored?

In your browser's storage (IndexedDB) for this site. It is not uploaded to ToolPocket. Clearing site data, using a private window or switching to another browser or device will not carry the drawing over, so save a file or export an image for anything important.

Can I collaborate with others in real time?

No. This whiteboard is single-user. To share a board, save it as a .excalidraw file or export an image and send that.

Can I open my drawing in Excalidraw?

Yes. Files saved from the menu use the standard .excalidraw format, which excalidraw.com and other Excalidraw-based apps can open.
