Checklist

A checklist and to-do list with optional due dates and times, overdue highlighting, nesting and filters. Export the list as a GitHub-style Markdown task list (- [ ] / - [x]) or paste Markdown to import it.

About this tool

What does the Checklist do?

It keeps a list of tasks you can tick off. Each item can have a due date (and time); overdue items are shown in red and items due today in orange. The list is saved in this browser, and you can move it in and out of Markdown, for example to paste into a GitHub issue or a notes app.

How to use

  1. Type a task in Add an item and press Enter.
  2. Tick the box to mark it done. Click the text to edit it; Enter adds a new item below, and Backspace on an empty item deletes it.
  3. Click the calendar icon to set a due date and an optional time. Click the date chip to change or clear it.
  4. Use the indent buttons to make an item a sub-item (up to three levels), and drag the handle to reorder.
  5. Choose Open or Done to filter, and By due date to sort. Clear done removes finished items.

Markdown

Export shows the list as a Markdown task list that you can copy or download as a .md file:

- [ ] Book flights (due: 2026-11-01)
  - [x] Check passport
- [ ] Call the hotel (due: 2026-11-02 18:00)

Import reads Markdown back. It understands task lists (- [ ], - [x]), plain bullet and numbered lists, and plain lines; headings and blank lines are skipped. Due dates written as (due: 2026-11-01), due: 2026-11-01, 📅 2026-11-01 (Obsidian Tasks) or @due(2026-11-01) are recognised.

Features

  • Saved in this browser

FAQ

Will I get a notification when an item is due?

No. The list highlights overdue items when you open it, but it does not send notifications.

Is Markdown formatting in an item shown as bold or links?

No. Item text is shown exactly as typed, so **bold** or links stay as plain text.
